RL Stine had the game on lock with Goosebumps, back in the day :wow:

Fear street wasn't horrible. But it didn't hit like goosebumps. Goosebumps just had dope cover art and everyone read them so you could talk about them with everyone. I remember being in elementary school when new ones were still coming out and people saying it was ghost written and rl stine was a 'company' or a team that wrote books. Dude was dropping heat every quarter. Or it least it seemed like it. Our school library would always get the last quarters books so if you didn't buy them new and read them when they dropped at bookfairs you had to borrow them. They'd only get like 3 copies of the new books and the wait-list was damn near a semester long.

:pachaha: they had to start a rule if you were caught reading someone else's library book you'd get in trouble. Cause library was like once a week, so someone would get the new goosebumps and they'd hurry up and ready it in a day or 2 then give it to someone else, and it might switch hands 2-5 times before the original kid returned it the next week.

What got it fukked up was someone lent their book to someone and it got wet or not returned And of course the person who originally borrowed it had to pay.

I don't care what statistics say, we were reading our asses off back then.

My elementary school library didn't carry Goosebumps. We, or at least for me, had to wait for the scholastic book fair

Last book I finished was Blacktop Wasteland. shyt had me hooked, definitely gonna check out more of S.A Cosby’s work.

My current Cosby rankings
14828-b793a91ce369f8cb622b89928b3946e7.jpg
:

All Sinners Bleed
Blacktop Wasteland
King of Ashes (might move up over time)
Razorblade Tears
Ride Like Hell (short story)

His books definitely are easy to digest and read more like extended screenplays than just a story.

On another note, I didn't know the man's 1st book was an attempt at fantasy "Brotherhood of the Blade" which I don't even know if I want to bother readings since A. He doesn't even acknowledge it and B. He self-published with what looks to be without paying an editor :mjlol:

:gucci: I think this is one of Pierce’s best. You can see how his writing style elevated itself
:hubie:the 2nd half of the trilogy has been weak compared to the 1st three books.

:usure: It's still early to finish but after Dark Ages I was like wtf more does he need to write?

752 pages not counting the reading before the chapter 1 of that 752 page book.

A lot of his story can be omitted and he has a lot of fluff writing.

Finally made it to Part II.....Chapter 12....shyt was a struggle and his writing is hard to keep up with as he isnt very good at creating scenery. A lot of his words get confusing because I'm like are we still on the ship? When did we get off the ship?

I'm just tired of Pierce Brown's pen and I'm tired of the Red Rising Saga. I read all 6 books back to back and I'm just ready to read some black stuff🤷🏿‍♀️.

But Chapter 12 tomorrow.

Mf only talk about VA in his books every other page lol....it's his version of Maine & Stephen King. I'm not sure he's done a book that wasn't set in VA yet.

In his latest book, he even pulled a King on da shared universe tip and had characters from another book mentioned/appear in the new joint. I can see why King showed him sum luv...he kind of one of his son's fr. Not as prolific, but still good stories and good writing.

Just finished reading Reaper Man by Terry Pratchett.
That's 11 Discworld books down and 30 more to go lol.
I thought it was a typical Discworld book (fun with witty dialogue) but the last 30 pages was some top tier writing. It was a perfect display have being serious and not letting the humor undercut the tone.
And the last line had me like
