Man.....I thought I was never gonna make it up out of this sewer.....I was about to start thrusting MY first against the damn posts 😭.

You can definitely tell that King was on that shyt when churning out this one. It's massive, messy, brilliant & chaotic all in one.

When it hits, it hits. The childhood sections really do a lot of the heavy lifting. All of the childhood trauma, the fear, the friendships, evil behavior being manipulated by It; all exceptionally done.

Even the cosmic stuff & the lore/backstory rally pulls you in.

But Dear God did this need to be trimmed/edited by at least 200-300 pages. I felt like I was stuck on the Deadlights my damn self near the end :damn:

There was a lot of unnerving stuff in the beginning that tapers off the deeper you get into the novel, and I think half of that is the point and half of it is bro just doing too much.

Overall, it was entirely too long, too wild, and yet somehow still worth the journey.

Anyone take advantage of any bookworm deals?
I ended up getting a Libra Color for a Christmas gift and bought myself a Clara BW which wasn't on sale but I had holiday bonus so it was whatever. Mostly I've been spending my free time stripping the the DRM and converting my Kindle books over the weekend. I plan on mostly using my Kobo to read at work and on trips.

I think I saw that deal for the Libra Color that piqued my interest. I wanna cop something fr, but at the same time, I just grabbed the Nook a couple of months ago---but it's just not the same as that e-ink like I had with my Nook before it went to hell and became a $300+ paperweight :martin:

I didn't even know they were still making Nooks

I bought a Nook Tablet back in like 2013 and rooted it and used it as a cheap android tablet lol.
Every other e-reader up till now have been a Kindle (Kindle Keyboard, Paperwhite 3, Kindle Basic 2022, Kindle Oasis, Kindle Fire 1, Kindle Colorsoft).

E-ink screen is the truth. I've read on my phone using the Kindle app but my eyes eventually get tired and I lose focus.

So far I'm liking my Kobo but I do feel their software isn't as polished as Amazon, but that's to be expected. As their market share grows they'll start to invest more money into them. One big thing I like is that I don't have to deal with fukking movie/TV tie-in covers anymore or covers being changed to worst art:blessed:

I thought about getting a Boox but I saw how the Kindle app ran on it and :camby:
Boox seems like it's more of a all in one tablet with a e-ink screen than a dedicated e-reader.

Don't disrespect one of the OGs now :mjcry:

I got the Lenovo version, lol, which isn't even an ereader fr but a full blown tablet with "reader mode" that still doesn't hit quite the same as the eink like I mentioned.

I was just seeing too many reasons for me not to get a Kindle (for obv reasons) or a Clara and there ain't that much else on the market unless you start looking overseas with BIGME and all that shyt.

I really did fukk with my Boox Color Go 7 HEAVY the one month I got to use it. Low-key I've been trying to find somebody who could just do a screen repair on it. They offered to do it for a hunnid and change, but it was about principle for me---honor the damn warranty lol. It's just sitting in a box now.

But Boox is far from being a tablet like tho. I know a breh in here has one too and loves his.

Nobody in here uses Moonreader?

I put it on my Nook to read graphic novel (compendiums) but I have yet to actually use it fr. Been too heavy on books to get to my compendium TBR. And I don't need it for epub shyt b/c for that I just use Kindle or Play Books since I can download epub files and transfer/upload em to those apps.

LOL the Glowlight was a good device when it dropped. I got one for my younger brother back then and it made me think about switching over.
They fumbled the ball hard because they should be in the position Kobo is, at least in the US.
I think Kobo is a good substitute for Kindle if you utilize Calibre. Side loading is easy and you can easily backup your books you purchased from the Kobo store. The store isn't as deep as Amazons but you can get books from other sources and strip them with Apple's bookstore, Bookshop.org (Tor books are DRM-free), and Kindle books published after to April 2025(I think that is the right date) are the exception.

For as much money Boox cost it is insane they aren't honoring the warranty.
