I'm also reading Cosmic Trigger: Final Secret of the Illuminati by Robert Anton Wilson

like I said, I can't read just one book at a time, I read two and three books at the same time

the book is great so far

Just finished The Between. I underestimated this one after reading the first initial 20 or so pages---even with having read The Reformatory already :whew: .

I was aware of the premise, of course, but it was still coming off like your standard contemporary drama with a light speculative touch.

Nah. She builds that routine of comfort presented by the family in the novel and uses it to turn everything upside down & have yo ass lookin' for the 🚪 to get out :damn:

One the MC's perspective is fractured, and he becomes this unreliable narrator, the book is relentless from that point on.

It's not horror in the traditional sense but more of an existential dread. I wasn't expecting the ending to be that sad either even though I knew it was coming. Helluva debut :ehh:

Been on my Le Guin shyt, tryna finish the Earthsea series + work on my own shyt. I recently finished or have ongoing:

The Farthest Shore
Tehanu
Steering The Craft

As far as Earthsea is concerned, The Farthest Shore and Tehanu were dope. Def not for everybody if you like your fantasy a little more grandiose & battle laden. These are coming of age + meditative stories touching on grief, life, death, identity and the nature of those things + more.

I got the Clara BW but I gave the Libra Color as a gift for Christmas, and I was thinking that I should've bought one for myself when I played around with it lol. Ol girl is more of a physical book reader but she loves reading on the Libra whenever possible and she likes she can annotate with the stylus.

I sometimes still buy ebooks from the Kindle store so I just strip the DRM, sometimes change the cover, and convert it to Kepub in Calibre to use for my Kobo.

Read Verity on Sunday. That was a good thriller, but read it in one day. It was more of a 90s obsession thriller though.

Last month I read Hidden Pictures.

I'm starting on Beauty in the Blood - Charlotte Carter

Same here but sometimes it really depends on how much the book is able to grab me emotionally

I agree, its why I feel less inclined with SFF recently, it can feel too wish-fulfilment/overly escapist for me at this time. While I've been dropping some social media, I've been able to pivot to contemporary and generally literary fiction, as well as some older stuff. Breh below has made me look into verse and poetry indirectly
