The gears begin to turn even more in this addition to the series :ehh:

The first half lost me occasionally, but the 'train' really got moving once the group was made whole again. Overall, any minor issues I took with it, it landed the plane and set the stage for what's to come and has me ready for the next joint.

Wizard and Glass is GOATed bruh. You in for a treat. One of Stephen Kings nominations for a masterpiece.

Finished Dying by Whiteness. It's good to have some statical backup of how racist policies end up fukking everybody up.

Next up I'm reading Kings and Pawns by Howard Bryant

I don't typically do audiobooks like that, but Robin Miles did her thing with this one.

The Gods take a backseat in this one compared to Wild Seed. I was a bit frustrated at first since I'd come to love the characters from the first but I quickly fell into the 'pattern" once I allowed the story to grow & go elsewhere. It's crazy to me Butler was doing this in the 70s.

56 pages in and she must hate men. Every villain is a man and missed opportunity to have a woman. Maybe we get more villains but the new villain 56 pages in is a man and another KING.

So far so good besides that one part. Just when it's a woman author you expect more women than men to drive a story as an antagonist.

This was my first Joe Hill book. The apple clearly doesn't fall too far from the King tree :ehh: .

He has his own flavor though to not make it feel like he's just doing a copy & paste. I wouldn't expect anything less since it appears like he's been in the game for awhile now.

This is a legit monster of a book (800+ pages) but it's captivating enough for one to fly through it. Some of the dialog might have been clunky at times, but it's nothing that takes you out of the story. It's less of a story on dragons and supernatural evil & more so about systemic evil where power scales & sorrow is used as the ladder. The dragon was cool too though, lol.

Just finished Project Hail Mary..... very good book. Easy read, the scientific details don't get in the way of the flow of the book. Liked them touching on the competitive aspect that could start new never ending wars. Great job describing Rocky ................... i wonder how the movie will translate, question.

:mjlol: at not knowing about the end of the beetles. dawg really said fukk it

Gonna start Kings & Pawns: Jackie Robinson & Paul Robeson by Howard Bryant next.

Anybody got good Star Wars books recommendations.......one preferably related to or stylized like Andor?

I was going to post that same video last week on Dapcity but I then thought I should wait to read it first. Over the years I've been reading up on Paul Robeson and that book seems like something a bit different with the Jackie story thrown in the mix.

I haven't watched season 2 but Catalyst and the Rogue One novelization fit with what you are looking for. IIRC, Tarkin had a similar feel to the show where it's mostly about political intrigue but I haven't read it since it came out so I could be misremembering

Bet. When searching, I've seen Catalyst & Reign of the Empire pop up, I'll cop both.

Andor season 2 is fire. :wow: Andor really did shyt. The the purity test politics of Luthen is really well done thru out the series.

Crazy that initially I was watching season 1 in the background think it was just another regular Disney-fied Star Wars joint.
Wasn't til maybe episdoe 4 of season 1 that I really started paying attention. Had to go back.

I legit feel like Andor is the Star Wars / Disney-fied version of a condensed The Wire.

I didn't care much for the present-day stuff, but once we got to the Mid-World flashback--it was pure heat :whew: .

It was a bit long, but the payoff was more than worth it. Masterful work from King using The Wizard's Glass to explore corrupted certainty --seeing too much, too soon, and paying for it in blood. He smoked the action set pieces too. That ambush in the Bad Grass was a certified highlight. This might have shot to the top of my list as my favorite in the series thus far.
