I swear as a kid, and till this day, this is one of my favorite movies of all time. This movie actually made a young, getting kicked out of middle school Mac Brown want to change things around and go to college. Just so I could live that Marcus Graham lifestyle.

And I did..

Not the penthouse, yet

But Lifes been pretty good.

Thanks Boomerang:wow:

The only Cacs in Boomerang where the Whites slaves on the chariot for Strange's entrance. That musta hurt their spirits.:lolbron:

Don't forget get that herb in the department store that Marcus flexed on. Every single white person was shown to be weak and inferior. It was hilarious.

i don't understand why white would pan this film, i seen plenty of films with nothing but wall to wall successful white people, and for the duration of the film I can put aside mistreatment of blacks in America and enjoy a film(The Big Short), their ethnocentrism is so powerful that they can put it aside for two hours. there are some shots at white people but it has nothing to do with the plot of the film

when you take away their money, whites are pretty stupid, or at the very least their definition of ignorant

Tariq's quotes from an interview regarding Boomerang:

Whenever you have movies with Black folks in them, there has to be some kind of stereotype in them to make Whites comfortable. For example, the movie Boomerang is one of my favorite movies. It was made by Reginald and Warrington Hudlin.I love those brothers, because they are very thorough. They’ve always represented for the community.Boomerang was a great movie.Hollywood spent like 50 million dollars on it.It was deemed a commercial failure because it didn’t crossover.White audiences didn’t go see it, even though it was a great movie. The movie grossed like 70 million dollars, which is not a total failure. However, Hollywood looks at it as a failure because it didn’t crossover like Beverly Hills Cop.

White people as a collective couldn’t understand the thought of successful, good looking, well-to-do Black people in normal relationships. That was foreign to the White collective in this country. They were like “Wait a minute, nobody’s on crack, tap-dancing, or a scam artist?”They were used to seeing Eddie as a conman or a scam artist.Boomerang was closer to the real Black experience than all his other movies. That was foreign to the mainstream audience.Movies are out to make money. The one thing they do is perpetuate racial stereotypes, which creates income. That’s what people want to see.The first Blockbuster movie ever made was The Birth of a Nation. It was a movie about White supremacy and Black inferiority. So the Hollywood system is based on White supremacy and Black inferiority.

A lot of DC women have tried to imitate Givens character in this movie but it don't work out as well as it do in the movie in real life.
got to be independent and successful which black women can't do

Those movies were great. But it's just something about the vibe of the early 90's.Just that whole feel was just different new and fresh. Might be more of youngin nostalgia on my part. If only eddie did a handful of movies similar to that role.

Yo who remembers strictly business? Another underrated classic. Got damn the 90's had black excellence all over the place. Can't stand this current c00n training for cheap laughs.

The booming of hip hop on a world wide scale was beginning, a real positive Afro-Centric movement, anti-crack propaganda was heavy in our communities because of the wild 80s, School Daze/House Party type movies were known to us but hidden to white america - shyt was just different. There's still black excellence but everytime we make a good thing some CAC blogger gotta write a think piece about how they either felt left out or got offended we didn't promote homosexuals, feminism, or All Lives Matter ish.

Word up. I miss when shyt was just for us. Not all these whites and "minorities" who directly benefit from slavery asking why aren't they included. We can't speak to us without people constantly judging our thoughts expressions proud blackness etc. This all lives matter is some bullshyt. If all lives mattered we'd all be upper middle classed citizens. With no racism or classism to differentiate us from one another.
