Gotta admit I didn’t think he would cut T.I. off cause he rock with him and he don’t have no ties to Gangsta. I was waiting for the day he got put under the spotlight about this though. Me personally if nobody did time behind you then it don’t matter that goes for Gangsta and Tip. I feel Boosie for keeping the same attitude though if you feel 1 snitched you gotta feel the other 1 snitched cause they did the same thing
You can snitch on muhfukkas without them doing time...
That said putting shyt on a dead man ain't snitching in my opinion, first of all there's the no one getting prosecuted about it part. You can't prosecute the deceased. But just as importantly, street nikkas lie all the time, I can lie and throw shyt on a dead man that's really my shyt, because the dead man and no one else can say what's what. So putting crimes on the deceased doesn't even mean the deceased even did the crime so its not even intellectually honest to call it snitching...
Tip has created clown shoes for himself with a number of antics, and he didn't need to share this story especially if he didn't want the criticism...
I commend Boosie's consistency too but he got his own clown shoes he wears...
Y'all are talking as civilians.
If you signed up for that life, snitching on the dead opens you up to also telling on the living.
Add in the fact that TI had questionable sentencing AFTER being a felon. Aint no way he gets that sentence beating federal minimums without some cooperation.
His whole character is in question about what he made a career promoting.
Tip has made himself a questionable character when he shouldn't have been...
He was one of the biggest rappers alive when he caught that case, he had all the label resources to fight the charge, that's how he got that time as a felon. There was no one for him to tell on in that case specifically as he was the one who was set up by a snitch, so unless he was gonna sell those guns off and he told on the prospective buyers, or he gave up info on unrelated shyt, there was no snitching...
All within the realm of possibility but doubtful, it's been over 15 years. If Tip git someone canned behind that case it would be out, I'll stand corrected if I'm wrong. How long it's gonna take for that to surface, 30 years?
For the record, I was in prison at the time, The Rise and then Foothills in NC, when Tip caught this case, and that shapes my perspective as compared to maybe others here. I'm mentioning this because I was doing time with a thousand other convicts who are or were recently in these kind of situations. Tip was one of the top 4 or 5 rappers in the game, it was a huge story, ESPECIALLY to convicts, criminals, street nikkas, and living amongst this group 24 hours a day...
And in real time, around active street dudes and guys with various criminal cases, there was some questioning how he got off light, but most people chalked it up to the resources being a huge pop star bought him, they bought that time off. When he initially caught the charge, with us knowing he's a prior felon, many did think he'd get hammered but when he got the year, again some people brought up the ratting but that wasn't the majority opinion because there was no one for him to rat on in that case...
And damn near everyone understood the code of not labeling dudes rats without verification, so if it was gonna come, we were like just wait on it...
In the years since I've gotten outta prison, way, way, way more people on the outside here, ride with the "TI snitched" angle, than actual convicts and street dudes gave him in real time. Way more, like that's the consensus opinion in the years since, on this side of the gates. It was not the consensus opinion to dudes on that side...
Now, him telling this dead cousin story really puts him under the scope because there's no need to volunteer that info and the manner in which he relayed that info makes it look like he added extras on it. And this makes it look like he's contemplated telling or actually going thru with it prior...
One more thing too, again Tip has fukked his own reputation up, but there's a revisionist attacking of his background in recent years as he's fukked himself up. And it was always understood that Tip was an official street dude, even during the Shawty Lo drama (was in prison when that happened too) yet people use that as an impetus to say Tip was never really outside...
It was never questioned that Tip was really out the streets. Most guys of that cut didn't think he was American Gangster, nobody thought he was this huge weight mover or cold blooded killer, and he wasn't those things. But everybody knew he was active with it and running around...
I've seen this attacked in retrospect on this side, not you or this post, but people in general with the "he ain't even street", "he wasn't outside like that" shut, and it's just easy to re-imagine what we all understood of his history, because of his recent history of clown moves. Thru all the gun case and Shawty Lo shyt no one inside ever thought "damn dude wasn't in the field like that"...
