The importance of decentralization expands to much more than just financial institutions. Look at how centralized our data is, Facebook, Google, Amazon, Apple and MS control so much of our everyday behaviors that when you think about a scenario where this stuff fails or gets lost, the implications are huge.

We have all this information, data, content on these platforms that we don't even own that can be wiped for various reasons or malfunction
