what if i pay most things like student loans directly from my account and never see any receipts, can i call the student loaner and request how much i paid the whole year in paper form?

Yup..they should send you a 1098E with all the details..sometimes you have to call them to make sure they send it to the right place or email ... whatever you use to communicate with them.

I usually just go to HRblock and I just sign away... Oh so if I find things that are on the list and if I bought them or got dental work done I must keep the receipt and show them the proof?.. I can't just tell them?

:wow:

Bruh, they charging you like 150 dollars to do a simple 1040? I used to do the same before I stared educating myself and realized how big of a ripoff it is.

Try and learn a little something about taxes and file them yourself. Turbotax allows you to file federal taxes for free if you are under a certain income. They literally walk you right through it. If you don't want to do that, find some other place that will do your taxes for cheap. I hate seeing brothers get ripped off by these payday loan looking companies.

I make right under 36,000 a year, I've been thinking of getting a second job and doing so it will jump me into the 44,000 range. I've read the cut off iunder is 37,000 in the 15% and over I'm in the 25%, I'm not too sure on that number.

I've tried to research online but get confused honestly.

What do u guys think?

Is the second job a straight up job? If there's any way you can get hired as a 1099 contractor you can deduct all your expenses, holla at ya boy :mjpls:

Oh... So if I made 46,000 only 10,000 gets taxed at the higher rate which is 25% and everything else will be 15%?

What about owing taxes when you file at the end of the year, how will that be affected?
i just noticed this. no everything else isn't taxed at 15%. the first $9275 you make is taxed at 10%. let me try breaking it down this way (no deductions, payroll taxes or anything, just a straight gross salary minus the tax rate):

46k divided by 52 = $884 a week.

so the money you earned from january 1st to march 11th will be taxed at the 10% rate.
money earned from march 11th to october 14th will be taxed at the 15% rate
money earned from october 14th until december 31st will be taxed at the 25% rate.

as for taxes, at your income level you shouldn't be paying for tax prep because it's offered for free by h&r block through organizations like the united way.
