How do you feel about borrowing large sums of money from family members? And how do you feel about giving money to a family member? I know some people who don't borrow money from family members at all, their pride won't let them.

I was helped plenty into getting loot and into the property ladder from my brothers, but borrowing a big sum of cash, nope, thank god (tua).
I lent out 20grand to my little sister and she invested it wisely and has now paid me back, so that's peace.

whew...you're gonna hear a range of answers

when i was 18-25 i just rode out my hard times on my own
example- i once had my electric cut off for 11 days, no food for 4 days
never considered asking for help
i just kept grinding

other people still living at home @30 unemployed with no fukks given:why:
maybe it is different times and different situations??
i would have asked for help if there were children around
a grown man can take it-
but kids shouldn't go without electricity or power like that:usure:

to answer your question
i'd give any blood relative one month's worth of my take home pay-
that is a lifetime limit- one and done
if they repay, then i would lend it again
if they don't, i called it a gift- but don't bug me again:stopitslime:

i have helped some people a bit more (when young kids are involved)
but they don't get cash- only pay rent or electric bill directly

this is just my experiences- no judgment if people do things differently:yeshrug:

I feel conflicted by this. I feel like the toughest thing being black and coming up is you bear the burden of supporting a lot of family members. It almost becomes something that stagnates growth, because family can start looking at you as some successful atm. On the flip side you might be trying to come up in this world and do need help and it would be great for family to help you.

Personally I found that when I needed help family always claim they broke, but they never have trouble picking up their phone on some "say cuz lemme holla at you about something..."

My family would never loan me money. If they got it they'll give it to me.

And if i got it i'll give it to them.
