whew...you're gonna hear a range of answers
when i was 18-25 i just rode out my hard times on my own
example- i once had my electric cut off for 11 days, no food for 4 days
never considered asking for help
i just kept grinding
other people still living at home @30 unemployed with no fukks given

maybe it is different times and different situations??
i would have asked for help if there were children around
a grown man can take it-
but kids shouldn't go without electricity or power like that
to answer your question
i'd give any blood relative one month's worth of my take home pay-
that is a lifetime limit- one and done
if they repay, then i would lend it again
if they don't, i called it a gift- but don't bug me again
i have helped some people a bit more (when young kids are involved)
but they don't get cash- only pay rent or electric bill directly
this is just my experiences- no judgment if people do things differently
