It's good practice to over communicate exactly what the expectations are first then observe and see how laxed the rules can be before assuming everything is ok. Sounds like you got off to a rocky start but good luck, things may settle. If not, be confident in your skills and know that you can be an asset somewhere else, it's not the last job left on earth

Yeah I worked remote and the culture was different. Obviously they trusted their employees more being a smaller organization vs here. So maybe I was too loose but like you said my talents are an asset. Sounds like they have been having trouble finding talent in general.

I will say I took this job pretty rapidly after my layoff and I was uneasy due to this acquisition and dealing with the recruiter through the process.

Still need to hone my programming skillset.

Honestly, If I could get a remote job paying well that'd be a dream job

Send an email when you come in the morning and when you leave for lunch and for the day. Give it the same generic title and and the end of the week just search your out going emails and plug in the times on your time sheet. Tedious but it covers your ass.

Yeah I miss remote work. My mom works remote and has the past 16 years.

I've been writing my times down.

My teammates have been helpful. I had a good talk with a co-worker. I felt unproductive the first few weeks between acquiring access and not knowing what's going on. Now I'm seeing how they set things up and how I can produce change.
