Damn he give a good interview with vox I like what he say about “political hobbyism” :ohhh:
If you spend a lot of time consuming news, there’s a good chance you’re doing politics wrong.

And you’re not only doing it wrong, you probably also think you’re doing it right, which means you’re almost certainly making things worse.

This is the thesis of a new book called Politics Is for Power by Eitan Hersh, a political scientist at Tufts University. His book is half lament, half rallying cry. A self-identified liberal, Hersh tries to understand why the left stopped pursuing power and instead started treating politics more and more like a spectator sport.

He coins the term “political hobbyism” to capture the problem. “We participate in politics by obsessive news-following and online slacktivism, by feeling the need to offer a hot take for each daily political flare-up, by emoting and arguing and debating, almost all of this from behind screens,” Hersh says. Many of us think we’re politically active — but in fact, we’re doing little more than signaling who we are to other people. We may be emotionally invested in politics, but we’re not actually committed to solving problems.

So what do you suggest @I Really Mean It ? If both sides are the same and things are hopeless, what do you propose as a solution to be implemented in our lifetime?

I just don’t see the point in beating this dead and incorrect horse without at least an idea of what can be done to correct the problem.

If all is lost and we’re just mindless worker bees playing a rigged game, why should we even care at that point?
This is what the agent @I Really Mean It wants. He’s here to sow voter apathy and he’s succeeding with you.

this country is effectively ruled by one party split into two factions, a corporate duopoly divided by tactical disagreements on how to achieve the same end - consolidating and preserving control of the world’s labor and resources in the hands of white elites.

republicans use appeals to white resentment as their means of gaining power; democrats use performative gestures of a progressive nature as theirs. Neither party works in the interest of empowering the electorate - the common folk in the street - and both do what they can to prevent citizens from having actual input on the formation of policy and the socioeconomic structure of our world.

all democrats give you is a nicer, more inviting aesthetic of white supremacy.

the democratic party is purely a cosmetic adjustment to the same systemic abuse that black people have been subject to for time immemorial.

i am actually fascinated, amused and saddened by the number of black people who are unable to see this inescapable fact of life.

the most soft spoken, liberal democrat will turn into an inveterate racist at the slightest hint of a true challenge to their white privilege.
