impactful is not the same as selling out a tour. you can have one or the other, or both. but bow wow is not selling out a tour on his own, he’s literally one of those artists he’s talking about. nikka think he’s Paul McCartney. You gotta get to the point where people go to your show just to have you on as a soundtrack to their life while they wild out, reconnect or reminisce. he doesn’t have the volume for that quite frankly. he the type to sell out a theme park show, you just heard he was there in between roller coasters.

But he’s also wrong because there’s several new artists charging more and still selling more than they did back then. it’s all economies of scale. you can’t get away with the prices they got away with back then, and that’s another reason why some of them can’t fill a tour.

We are finally here where the not so great artists can shyt on the current artists and talk about how it used to be. It was all jokes when it was the 80’s and 90’s rappers. I can just sit back and enjoy the thread cause I don’t care about what Bow Wow has to say about this.

Shows you the state of rap. Early 2020s have over took the mid 2000s as the woat era of rap music, an era where bow wow was killing it :dead:

You’d be surprised how much millennial black women still love Bow Wow. Dudes music definitely had an impact on them growing up.
This is untrue. You just weren’t the Bow audience. If you were a certain age Bow did have a lot of impact, particularly for the female fanbase too. Bow has had legendary tracks, played in classic movies, sold out world tours, etc.
:mjlol: Nah not really. We'd rather see B2K than Bow Wow solo. Millennial black women would never put Bow in a list of impactful rappers.

Hip-Hop after 2007 is 99% irrelevant

100 years from now when people bring up Hip-Hop 2008-2025 will be an afterthought/forgotten about era
I told someone almost verbatim this same shhit a few weeks ago, that’s crazy you just said this, 😳💯. Sad to say, but ever since the South became dominant, it’s like the skill/talent level and artistry just completely nosedived and became unimportant, being brain dead became lit.

Couple that with social media pretty much taking over the culture and any and everybody having access to it, from a fan’s standpoint as well as a creator/influencer/etc…standpoint… 24/7…it’s become cheap and easy to do and a shell of it’s former self.

People are really acting like Bow Wow is considered a legend or something. We were all there. Cats have been shytting on Bow Wow since he was trying to make that turn when his voice got deeper and he was trying to make harder music and them girl records. Maybe if folk respected him more I could take this seriously but i can’t. This man could’ve and should’ve had a good career because he was actually a pretty decent rapper at times… people were clowning though. Now he has to be the “back in our day” guy and people are going to act like he was their Jay or Nas.

don't think it has anything to do with the artists being more or less impactful. I think it's just a sign of the times. Music felt more special back then because you couldn't just hear your favorite song whenever you wanted.

You either had to hope they played the song on the radio (hoping it was in rotation or call up and request it) or wait for it to come on the 106 and park countdown or any other music tv show of the time. Even if the song was out on an album or your burned it, it still wasn't as accessible as it is today with Spotify.

Also the artists today or more visible and we know more about them than we ever did. Probably know too much with how much they post on twitter, instagram, podcasts. Going back to 106 & Park, it used to be an event when your favorite artist would come on because it was rare to hear them in a interview. Even Moreso back then, seeing them on tour was extra special so they would sell them out more easily.

There's nothing inherently more impactful about "bow wow wow yippy yo yippy yay" when compared to today's music

Bow wow is definitely a legend. The biggest kid rapper ever who also stayed relevant and got money as an adult and still getting money. Anybody who says different is a hater and or was jealous cause all the bltches wanted him back in the day.

Bow wows music wasn't any better than the music today, its all the way music is consumed.

It seems more Impactful because music consumption was completely different back then, You literally had to wait till you got home from school to see you favorite video. Singles had a 4-5 month life span depending on hot was.
