They could fight for more of a cut on distribution and streaming, and regulations on crazy ass deals

Corruption would never take place with a rapper union. :duck:

Nice idea, Bow Wow. I'm pretty sure Pimp C already talked about doing this (RIP). Butt realistically, this would make the Teamsters and Jimmy Hoffa look like saints. No way would I trust any of them negroes with large sums of money. :mjpls:

These dudes not gona pay no damn union dues :mjlol: . Also who gets included in all this ? Every rapper that has a contact with a label? So what happens when a dude is signed on a 4 album deal, got his advance and don't drop more then 2 album and still owes 2 more? Is he supposed to continue to pay union dues forever until his label drops him? Wouldn't he be broke and can't afford the dues by then? What about people that are signed to multiple label imprints? Does have have to pay multiple dues?
None of this is realistic. Just save your damn money like every other industry in 2023.

He’s correct. You just need to get quality people on the board. There should be some type of insurance, or protection.

Hire someone who knows how to form one and get the following steps going first though.

A million dollars is $50K per year for 20 years.

I know that sounds like poverty to you 6 cert gentlemen but so far $50K is enough to live on. And that without INVESTING like you should and living on the interest/dividends.

So let's say rapper X has run through $5MM during his career. That's enough to have $100K per year for 50 years.

I don't think this is an issue for popular acts. I think self control is the issue.

For dudes who never touched any real money.. who gonna be paying their pension? The other rappers? The label? The label didn't even pay the broke rapper in the first place..

Sounds nice but like other cats said, you'd be better off having a solid plan and sticking to it for investments and retirement.

And in the case of anyone seeing any number of millions.. no sympathy when you go broke.

I think the misconception is that Rapper X made Y amount and went broke. Rappers, like athletes have so many peoples hands in their pockets. Agents, managers, lawyers, accountants, stylists, protection, entourage, publicists, etc... It cost about $100,000 for a song to take off. Sometimes a rapper can sell a million and still owe the label. Happens all the time. The ones who make a profit are few and far between, and often they make money from investing into other business. For every dollar a rapper makes, their lucky to see $0.30 return after fees. Now if they're in a group it's even worse.
