For how long? The merger is apparently real. Remember spill.com? jumptheshark.com? televisionwithoutpity.com? they all got ate up. Once a big boy bought 'em, they were allowed to operate for a little while, but eventually, the big boys' true motives were revealed and they got executed.

If history is any indication, boxofficemojo is at the trough:

Ain't no Father Gabriel or Carol to save them, though.

No updates anymore. Archives aren't the same as an active site with active reviews and an active community.

http://www.nytimes.com/2014/04/04/opinion/the-end-of-television-without-pity.html?_r=0

It survived through the Web 1.0 and Web 2.0 eras and into whatever we’re in now, drawing enough clicks to attract NBCUniversal, which bought the site in 2007. In late March TWoP, as it’s known, announced that it would cease operations on April 4 and shutter its reader forums on May 31.

Seven years on death row. Looks about the same as mojo.

Apparently, NBC wanted to get rid of it entirely, but got persuaded into keeping the archives up -- but for how long? Eventually, you're going to go to the televisionwithoutpity site, and be redirected to whatever page NBC wants you to really be at, just like what happened with spill (hollywood.com) and jts (tvguide.com).

Better to reign in Hell than serve in Heaven
looks like amazon was forced to lean back

probably got some emails and calls from very important people.. a lot of insiders and press people use that site for facts on international numbers... surprising people with "pay us now for what you got for free for years" didn't seem to work... especially with no "release date" to tell people the changes were coming
