tyson v spinks had the craziest atmosphere and build up..wow.Nothing can beat that one..

LOL, that's the one fight that popped in my head before coming in here. I was a little kid. We had a big ass BBQ at my Grandma's house. Everyone was pissed it ended so soon, but they understood cuz it was Mike.

80's we were :eat: for Boxing. Free fights on Saturdays also.

Lakers, Celtics, and Pistons for Basketball. (Too young to remember the Great Sixers teams)
Niners, Giants, Redskins, Bears in Football.
I even care about Baseball back then.:pachaha:

For some reason I missed the Tyson-Spinks fight that night, heard about it the next day.

I watched the Tyson-Douglas fight live though :snoop:

I was still in shock 15 minutes later :snoop:

90>>>>80s

fab 5
Arcade games
cartoons (tv shows in general)
hip hop
summer blockbuster movies
NBA on NBC
Cowboys
Lakeshow Lakers (not fukking with Showtime but still mad entertaining)
Starter Jackets
Black movies
Nikes and Retro Jordans blowing up.

Born in the 80s... but 90>>>all.

breh most of that stuff is from the 80s

transformers, indiana jones, terminator, cosby show, magic vs bird vs isiah, raiders starter jackets everybody wore because of NWA, michael jackson (thriller), madonna, run dmc (bringing rap to popularity)etc...

jordans? nikes were shyt brand until those jordans hit originally, which was better, imo, because it was fresher and original.

obviously it's a matter of taste... original/fresh vs advanced...

yeah that was a huge shock....my pops had my uncles and the men of the neighborhood over...they couldn't believe that shyt...it wasn't like that ko came out of nowhere...buster was beating that ass from round 1...even able to get up from a vintage tyson uppercut to beat on him some more..that ko was vicious too...dude wobbled up with his hands down at 10..one eye closed, the other eye glassy with that mouthpiece sticking out wildly from his mouth....in no condition to fight on :wow:

Prime Tyson would have beat Holyfield, Bowe and Lewis, hell the Tyson that fought Ruddock would have too

:comeon:

Tyson was a bully. It worked when people were scared of him and would just defend themselves.

Against tall fighters, who fight tall (ie jab and keep him at distance), dude was neutered.

Im not convinced he beats Vitali, and he would beat Holyfield.

Lewis SHOULD beat him too, but he got a suspect chin.

Most overrated boxer in the history of the internet.

Lewis would always beat Tyson. Even Buster Douglas beat a prime Tyson.

Holyfield tho was an overrated piece of shyt. Prime Tyson should have given him the beats.

OK son, i was just speaking about boxing.
Fair enough.
breh most of that stuff is from the 80s

transformers, indiana jones, terminator, cosby show, magic vs bird vs isiah, raiders starter jackets everybody wore because of NWA, michael jackson (thriller), madonna, run dmc (bringing rap to popularity)etc...

don't name movies and tvs shows...if you really wanna go there...the 90 destroys the 80s. I'm not hating on the 80s...they had some great shyt...but in the 90s you couldn't even keep up with all the crazy ass shyt that was coming out. Starter Jackets were popping in the 90s. Fact. They may have invented that shyt in the 80s but 90s you HAD to have em. Music...lets not go there either...as a whole compared to the 60s and 70s...music as a whole was a let down in the 80s. There was some dope shyt but Disco fukked up everything for a little while...it seems like music quality just dipped a bunch. 90s r&b with r kelly boyz II men...ah man...lets not get into hip hop...it is a general consensus the 90 hip hop>>>all
I dont even have to ask, but i'm sure if you have a top 10 list of albums most of em come from the 90s. That shyt you said about Nikes doesnt change the fact that nikes and jays exploded in the 90s.

off topic but i always felt 9/11 was a giant change in our culture(obvious) but everything just became dark, reality driven, scary etc. after 9/11

there was no more magic just shytty reality

i think that's why 90's nostalgia is such a hot topic

its almost like we were forced to forget how exciting the 90's was and just turned into some panicking idiots

^^^

that should prob be a thread topic

That's truth, bruh a lot of real ass shyt going down.

80s was sick for boxing, but so was the 90s

can't forget Tyson, Bowe, Holyfield, Foreman coming back, Lewis, Tua, Ibeabuchi, among others on the Heavyweight side...

Ike Quartay, Roy Jones Jr., Bernard Hopkins, Oscar De la Hoya, Tito Trinidad, Naseem Hamed... I can go on and on.

boxing itself was asscheeks back then more so than it is now

that's part of what made Mike so spectacular ...he was the savior..

Sugar Ray Leonard and those guys were nice but back then it was about the heavyweights more than in today's world where Mayweather is the biggest name but in a lesser weight class

90s boxing >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> 80s boxing
it ain't near close

(to clarify I'm speaking mid eighties cause that's my as far back as my memory allows)

It must have been nice knowing a fight was gonna end in a knockout. You knew win or lose it wasn't gonna go the distance and would be decided definitively in the ring

with these mayweather/paquiao fights you pray for a knockout but know its just gonna be a lot of dancing and dodging, maybe a few moments of exchanges and excitement and then a judges decision

But,

Manny and Mayweather aren't heavyweights. They don't have the punching power. They get KO's but their weight class is more about speed and style.

Right now the heavy weight division sucks because boring ass Euro fighters are dominating. Boxing needs more athletic brothers to bring the KO's back.

You should check out Don Kings new boy Trevor Bryan. He got shades of Tyson but is too early to tell.
