This seems like it’s more to the story but rest in peace to the kid. I don’t know about charging the parents with negligence, kids walk home every day. Someone give that 76 year old an eye exam.
But honestly I can’t even fault her if she did nothing wrong. Sometimes, fukked up shyt just happens.

I agree

I don't understand why the Bond is so high, or how the parents can't even go to the funeral, that's just universally fukked up

is anybody even thinking about the 10 year old, he can't even be with his parents, might think it's his fault etc

plus, this is not always the parents fault

in my neighborhood when I was a kid I would hang out with my friends and go different places, I wouldn't even want my mother to catch charges if I got hit by a car

I could understand if the kid found a gun, or found some drugs in the home and ate them or something

but almost everybody's parents has let them walk places without thinking twice, especially with somebody older like a 10 year old

the parents don't deserve all this, this is simply a tragedy that's being made worst by the judge

Happens often especially if the driver wasn't doing anything wrong.

If im driving and you jump in front of my car and I hit you, why should I be charged? Unless you leave the scene they not gonna charge you

And the police were able to ascertain this in an investigation that took 3 days? Wrapped an investigation where a child died in 72 hours? Did all due diligence over a weekend? Sounds like lazy police work.

This happened on May 27 the article dropped June 1.

If the kid got hit on the way home from school would the parents have been charged? It'd be one thing if the kid got hit at 10p at night and I've seen people get a lower bond for actual weapons charges.

A whole lot of parents need to be charged and heavily fined for their lack of supervision on they kids

Had to yelled at 2 little kids last night at 10 o clock making noise in my yard. nikkas only about 9 and 10 years old

These mothers and fathers today in huge numbers are lazy motherfukkers who are kids mentally themselves

This basically. We knew bus routes at 7 and walked everywhere if we had an older relative but kids were different back then…. Judge doing way to much on this one
My guy, I was EVERYWHERE at 7.

As soon as I got my bike, I was gone. I stayed in the perimeter but I was out until the street lights came on.

Man man man :smh:

This is some BS. We got 5 year olds in Japan taking the damn subway completely unsupervised, but in America parents go to jail for letting their 7yo walk with their 10yo brother.

Grocery store was near the house.

I know my kids when they were younger used to want to walk home if we were somewhere close to the house. They used to ask me and my wife all the time until finally we felt that they were old enough (10 years old), and we laid down the rules for them.

The same scenario probably happened here. I feel bad for the parents. All the parenting instincts probably told them 'no' but at some point you give your kids some kind of freedom. Walking to their house was probably something they felt was safe enough for their 10 and 7 year old.

It's unfortunate. And to slap a $1.5M bond is excessive. That seems corrupt to me. The parents are probably feeling guilty as hell and to do this and then them away from their other child is cruel.
