Because ppl, on the-coli, automatically write u off as a "hater," when you are just expressing an objective opinion

You're right, I shouldn't have to do it--but, that's the-coli
:wtb: Personal opinions regarding quality of music aren't objective they're subjective. Your opinion that it's not that good is not more valid than someone who thinks that it is a good album no matter how big of a Jay Z fan you are. You didn't offer that disclaimer to try and dodge being called a hater, you threw that out to try and put some kind of extras on your opinion that it doesn't warrant. That's where all that "can we please stop talking about that weak whiny album" bs comes from. I just don't get the insecurity. Just because some people may not agree with you doesn't mean that they're wrong. For what it was, BP3 was a good album. You don't have to agree.

Jay-Z is my all-time favorite rapper (when it comes to an artists complete career), but, can we please, stop talkin' about this weak, corporate-esque, whinny, album?

It's not that good, it's not horrible, but a classic album that Jay needs to take some time off...he uninspired.

He's going this "artsy" route, when, dukes like Nas been "experimenting" for 15 years.

Nas hasnt been experimenting at all..

Thats why Nas never disappoints his core fanbase..

He never does anything experimental to displease them

Hov is 100x more experimental than Nas..which is why Bp3 got mixed reviews

Nas never evolves as an artist

He plays it safe..but these dumass Nas stans eat it up as genius and even mistake it as innovation when all it is is him playing it safe so he never lets yall down...

Stop it breh:rudy:

First, this response (blackslash) is an example of what I'm talkin'.

That's how I feel about the album and I understand why you feel that way.

:heh: You know that poster is a character. He's the self appointed general of the Jay Z stan army. That said, I didn't see him call you a hater though. Internet character antics aside, I just see him countering some things that you said making solid points.

originally from the 'ville
Not trash, but far from classic.

"Thank You" and "Already Home" are GREAT songs
"As Real as it gets" and "On the next one" are songs that I bump every once in a while
"So Ambitious" is my shyt...love that beat and chorus
I can even get myself to bump "off that" "star is born" and "haters" occasionally

It had a direction, it achieved it's goal--make Jigga even more of a household name. If there's an album where people want to point to and say he mailed it in lyrically, this is that album. It has some replay value on certain tracks if you're in a certain mood and some tracks are comical "haters," but this is his most pop-friendly album. No hip-hop head, and anyone who knows what Jay is capable of can truly love this album. I knew it was bad when some kid in my dorm told me that he thinks this is his best album ever and this kid didn't know shyt about rap. :smh:

lol rap is pop music

Had some good songs. But a 3-star, 3.5-star at the most.

I give him props for trying to experiment a bit, but most of his tries outside of his usual sounds sucked. All of the Timbaland records were garbage, sounded like joints from Shock Value 3 or something. "What We Talkin Bout" and "Hate" sucked IMO (though What We Talkin Bout sounds a little better to me now). Sort of felt like he was going for that Kanye-esque stadium/multi-genre sound, but wasn't that good at it. I thought he executed that much better on Watch The Throne.

But "Thank You," "Already Home," "D.O.A.," "Run This Town," "So Ambitious," "Empire State of Mind," "On To The Next," all dope.

Album would've been 4 stars if the Timbaland songs were gone, and if he'd included "Brooklyn (Go Hard)" and "History."

Wait y'all like "On to the Next"? No wonder he gets away with releasing trash.
