Why downgrade like that??

and yes, he's an excellent coach, Celtic are gonna come up quickly

im not saying itll be even close to any time soon. im talking years down the line.

This was from this past December:

But the Boston Globe's Gary Washburn wonders whether or not the former Butler coach could be enticed to leave early, for home -- for Indiana.

"It's not that Crean is on the hot seat, but his position at Indiana is tenuous and there has been speculation that the school would make a hard push at Stevens, a Zionsville, Ind., native, if Crean were to exit."
For the Indiana view of things, Washburn turned to 1070 The Fan talk show host and former IU player and coach Dan Dakich.

"I get asked all the time, 'Hey, who would you hire?' " said Dakich. "I said before the question even finishes, I'd hire Brad Stevens and [Virginia Commonwealth coach] Shaka Smart. I don't care if it's the Celtics. I don't care if it's the Lakers. I don't care if it's Duke. I don't care if it's Indiana. I don't care if it's to be my accountant. They're so smart. They're so good with people and they just have a way of relating. I can't imagine that any major [college] job is going to open up and they're not going to get a call."
So if there was an opening in Bloomington would Stevens be interested?

"I know he enjoys the hell out of the Celtics," Dakich said. "I know he enjoys the challenge that is the NBA. I know that. We've talked about that. That's not media [talk]. I'm not going to say that ultimately the Indiana job wouldn't appeal to him, but I'm saying I honestly don't think people think, 'Of course he would come back.'"I bet you Brad probably thought about it when he was at Butler, but I would venture a guess he hasn't given that two thoughts since he's been with the Celtics. I would bet my life on it."

Stevens shot it down..and like I said earlier..the "whispers" shot it down...but theres an obvious connection there and if Stevens has a dream to coach IU at some point he wouldnt see it as a downgrade at all. He'd still get a shyt ton of money...Coach K etc may have been able to "upgrade" in the past to prestigious NBA teams but chose not to. Same with Saban bouncing back to Bama and staying there..Billy Donovan backing out of Orlando to stay at UF...and Larry Brown at SMU. Different strokes for different folks.

:patrice: I was a little upset when we started winning games lately cuz it's throwing a monkey wrench in the Tank. But the C's are playing good ball even when losing high priced players in Rondo and Green, and Sully going down for the year. Stevens is developing a good culture of competing with guys who are not thought of as being elite

I would love for us to get good young free agents to go to Boston. But c'mon, young black men are not looking to play there when they could go to California, Florida, Texas, even Arizona, where it's full of Sun, Nightlife, and Thots.

That and fukking taxes. Taxes are a bytch.

I fully endorse the winning though. Establishing the identity of the team under Stevens in this era is crucial for future success as well as current success. He had a lot to prove being so young and from Butler..him displaying brilliance, having guys who opponents don't perceive as world beaters play tough and effective against them, as well as getting great reviews behind the scenes from players and agents go a long way. Im still far from.convinced we will be able to make huge splashes in FA but his coaching and our success might be a needle mover in terms of someone being on the fence and ultimately deciding against it to deciding in favor of it instead.

there have been some whispers but even the whispers said hes immersed in the celtics. i dont see it happening anytime soon at all as a possibility (years), but it might eventually be a job he'd consider if things dont work out. my post may have made it seem like i thought it was more imminent than i really think it is
Oh ok. I was about to say...shyt, if he wanted that Indiana job that badly, all he had to do was wait 1 or 2 more years at Butler. Indiana's been wanting to fire Tom Crean for the last few years, but they don't have a replacement.

As long as they play out the offseason right Celtics definitely have a bright future with Stevens as their coach. I was skeptical of his ego handling at first but he seemed to manage Rondo pretty well.

I remember when dudes were laughing when he got that 6 year deal and the Celtics basically said you will be here all 6 years.
You don't take Butler to the National Championship game two years in a row by accident dude knows what he's doing and the Celtics have a potential GOAT coach now lets see if the Celtics front office can support him with decent talent.

No one is getting a chance to see it but this guy is impressing me night in and night out.

The plays he comes up with late in games are smart, original and almost always result in Open looks. Dealt with Rondo, the team deconstruction, mixing pieces etc....and he's got guys playing their butts off for him.

He's pretty impressive.

If he messes around and gets Okafor...He will cook for 10 years:wow:

How's that coaching holding up now :mjlol:

Down on 0-2 to the Hawks :mjlol:

They've lost two road games.
It's unlikely they come back and win this series but they are the lower seed, down 0-2 on the road.
Like the cliche goes, series doesn't start until someone wins on the road.

Celtics probably aren't winning, but I don't think 0-2 is a huge indictment on Stevens.

If they get swept, why isn't it an indictment on Stevens :beli:
