The key to defending Peyton-led squads is to play physical, man-on-man defense. Manning will destroy zone 9/10 times. You have to have to players to turn the game around on them and push them around. Throw off the timing and put fear in the receivers' hearts. Worked against the Colts and now the Broncos. I get the fact that some teams don't have the personnel to do it, but if you are an upper echelon team and are facing Peyton on a regular basis and/or know he lies in your way, you get the personnel to do this against him.
I'm speaking in general. Peyton is a timing QB. You press his receivers and throw them off he gets flustered. It's fact.
On the flip side, Brady doesn't rely on timing with his receivers as much as Peyton. And NE uses their backs and TEs alot, esp backs and slots underneath. Brady kills cats like this.
