He also seems to forget that black families could be broken up by slave masters at any moment with no warning.

Simplifies complex issues, and erases the role that govt. played in slavery and jim crow.

Been hearing this disingenuous argument for years. People are so eager to blame liberal government policies for x,y,z that they deliberately ignore that slavery, segregation, discrimination were supported by the LAW.
