He had a long career. Was in Masters of Ceremony even before Brand Nubian too.

And he had a lot of buzz for his solo debut and it just wasn't that good.

Them solo debuts used to make or break a nikka. If you was a highly anticipated rapper and you dropped a great album, your career took off - Nas, Big, Snoop, Redman, etc...

But if you was a highly anticipated rapper and your debut disappointed, then it was really hard to recover back then - Canibus, Drag-On, Big L (I like the album a lot, but it was considered a disappointment when it dropped compared to expectations).
This was it. For all his talent, his solo endeavours were mid. In God We Trust (After he left) >>>>>>>>>>>>> Reel to Reel

Puba souled'd out and went jiggy on 2000.
That is what happened.
Diamond did rhe same.
on his second album and both their solo careers never recovered. to cultural and record label drawing acceptability. Like it used to be. when you violated and no passes were given. Regardless of.
if you were commercial mainstream gateway.
to being rhe guy viewed. For getting fresh as the top draw. Plus potential mainstream cross over act. [Girbauds and designer jeans exclusively come from brand nubian, period jist for starters]

2000 at the time.
Was viewed as.
trying to go pop and that shyt was not allowed back then.

sohh puba met his fate.

now considering. They started giving passes because of the jiggy malaise.
Sohh pyba had a chance on the brand nubian reunion. Yet it was too little too late. Sohh puba just never recovered.

as a group or solo artist. In the commercial cross over top drawing potential manner. Puba originally was.

Yeah this is the answer

He had the title of king of New York before it was a thing

If you was a youngster around that time the backpack with the hilfiger Jeans or polo was the fit

In nyc

Puba just vanished for some reason

Good rant.
Add in designer expensive pants as a whole.

that's the answer. puba had a BUZZ before his debut. and for a second it looked like he was gonna deliver. 360 got play nonstop. but he dropped the ball with that first album. even managed to fumble a collab with mary j. blige (and that was after their first collab blew the fukk up).

fought back with "i like it" and then dropped the ball again with 2000.

same thing happened with canibus and big L imo. no one was checking for lifestylez of the poor and dangerous... and i know cause i was the one trying to put everyone i know up on it. :laff:
