Thats on Vick for vouching for Cooper though. If he doesnt do that he probably gets cut. I mean...he still should have been cut. But Vick speaking out on it gave them "credibility" that its not a big deal and that he should be on the team. :martin:

Vick is a coward. That's what 2 years in prison does to a man.

Other people caped for Riley too. Avant and shady McCoy I believe. But you are right, if they would have spoken out the pressure would have been too great. Instead they reaffirmed in people's minds it was a mistake and he's a good guy so we are stuck with a mediocre, overpaid racist #4 WR

Edit: it was just avant. McCoy said "he lost a friend"

I aint going that far :whoa:

He has to walk on egg shells since the dog fighting stuff. I just think he could have let this one go.

Basically Vick was in a tough spot. If he said he couldn't forgive Kkkooper folks would have said ....well you got a second chance after the dog fighting.

What should have happened is a brotha without a checkered pass like Vick should have stepped up and said something. The only folks that said anything was the CB and Shady. The black players should have circled the wagons and said hey lets say something. But Vick should not have had to carry that weight by himself.

If that shyt went down in the NBA shyt would have been totally different. Once the media went and asked someone say like Artest with a checkered past. Other black players would have stepped up and been like naw I will answer that question. Or if artest answered the question truthfully he would have had back up from current and former players.

Doc never ever forget the interview that McNabb did with James Brown on the real sports segment. James Brown asked him do black QBs have to do more and are they judged differently then their white counterparts. To which McNabb was like yeah we certainly are and he then explained why.

Well you know what happened then. The mainstream media flipped it as if McNabb was telling a fairy tail. ESPN and the rest began running around asking black players around the league if this was true. Kats like Ray Lewis, Dawkins were like yeah that is true what you think. Former players like Moon and Doug Williams were like hell yeah what you think. Then the media ran to young QBs like Jason Campbell and VY who basically ran away from the question with the I don't know man I am just trying to be the best player I can be.

Both Campbell and VY would get their wake up call later and McNabb due to not having a checkered pass, being a mentor and winning was able to navigate the land mines after his comments. But McNabb was use to this because even before being drafted he never avoided the question about his race. He brought it up before the draft and mentioned it after Limbaugh's comments, and stated it when he faced Vick in the NFC Championship game.

What bugs me out is how many white folks are so ready to throw out the term "race card" as if a millionaire black athlete that brings up white bigotry will be met with common sense and critical thought. These athletes KNOW what comes with bringing it up as do most black folks.....and it's never to our benefit, so fick a "race card."

Like Paul Mooney said if you want to say race card....well lets play all the cards in the deck then. Cause I know there are a few white privilege cards in that deck.

they bring it up to pacify and keep us docile, it's the same reason they always bring up MLK when black people start protesting no matter what the circumstances when they know damn well they don't care about MLK.
