When I was lurking I thought the same thing, but not because of "other's", but moreso because of ourselves. Us. Our own psyche. Our own self-esteem.

We're already flooded with the most negative and stereotypical images of ourselves at every turn in the mainstream, you would think that in spaces like this, we wouldn't even want to see stuff like this.
