As someone who grew up in England - and quit watching the natonal team play over a deacde ago - I can safely say that the States winning the World Cup would kill them. Unless they beat an African team, the Germans, the Argentinians, the Welsh, The Irish, The Scots or The French in the final.

No-one seems to have figured out that the key to winning a World Cup is finding out what the financial equivalent of growing up super poor with only a football for entertainment or national guilt over your country's actions in past wars - and surpassing it.
