Yes the courts may negate claims from the past, but the whole past would come into question based on the last occurrence.

A point of statute of limitations is to allow the defendent to get evidence to fight a claim. We just had an athlete get hit with a civil suit for an incident that happened 29 years ago.
For cases like sexual assault when there's only two parties involved your need physical evidence unless there's a confession of guilt. If you wait years not only is it more difficult if not impossible to prove but an abuser is allowed to roam free and victimize someone else.
Victims should be encouraged to come forward ASAP.
