I dont know if anyone thought about this or if I'm reaching but what if Todd killing that boy had some strong symbolism to it? I mean the boy did look like Todd so what if him killing the boy represented Todds place within Walts empire? He basically killed every notion Walt had about him being a simple foot soldier and is showing he wants to move up to the enforcer role.
