Merrick Garland don't strike me as a political dude at all. He comes off as this very reserved, precision based AG that will piss off a lot of people because he's slow and methodical in bringing cases and making decisions.

Garland or the Deputy AG most likely needed to give the final approval since its police officers getting indicted, but this was mostly done by the US Attorney for that area. Dark Brandon most likely found out when it was announced.

With that said, I do agree with people in here who said if Sessions or Barr was AG this wouldn't be happening.

Dark Brandon gave Garland his marching orders when he appointed him and laid out what he expects from him. Everything you said may be true but the AG serves at the behest of the president. I believe that Garland is remaining apolitical and that's a good thing. Do the right thing cause it's the right thing to do.
