I'd argue the Internet and social media have made it even worse that it would be otherwise.

Before that they would at least have to pass down racist ideologies in person via family/friends, or by watching FOX News. Now white people who don't even come from particularly racist families are on some alt-right/white nationalist shyt because they got radicalized on the Internet.
