The Bush administration charged the cops in the Rodney King verdict in an election year as well. Matter of fact his re-election year, and he still lost.

Bush filing charges actually angered his base, however. He got a lot of criticism from a notable amount of repubs for both directing the DOJ to investigate the case and for signing off on the DOJ filing charges.

Meanwhile, many people were openly wondering why Obama's DOJ hasn't filed charges for any of the police cases yet, resulting in people going in on both the DOJ and Obama himself.

Nonetheless, it's about time charges were filed. If the cops from the Rodney King case were able to get charged, so could Pantaleo. Especially with the video evidence. Should've happened a long time ago, imho.

lol, we all know the answer to that one.

People all over the world saw that video, which chronicled the events from beginning to end.

The chokehold was deemed illegal by the NYPD since 1994, yet Pantaleo used it on Garner, which killed him.

NY coroner deemed Garner's death a homocide.

The killing happened in broad daylight.

All types of witnesses on the ground.

Rodney King's case has less than that and the Feds still charged, and did it only after a few months after the original "not guilty" verdict from the local court. Meanwhile, this one took two years, ending up on an election year.
