O’Neill was absolutely good enough to warrant his number being retired and he was there long enough to deserve it too. His career triple slash in 9 years as a Yankee was .303/.377/.492 in 1254 games. He averaged 184 hits with 39 doubles, 2 triples, 24 homers, & 111 RBI’s per 162 games to go with 4 all star games and a batting title while hitting in the meat of the order on 5 pennant winners and 4 champions. Hell yes he deserves to have 21 retired.

On that note Bernie, Donnie, and Jorge all belong in Cooperstown too. That place isn’t legitimate anyway until it A-Rod, :manny:, Barry, McGwire, Sosa, & Clemens get inducted too.
I believe only HOFs should have their numbers retired barring exigent circumstances. I like how the Red Sox do it

:whoa:It’s not all about saves. There’s WS rings and a K rate that’s almost supernatural with Wagner. Dudes era was ridic in the 90’s, to the point once I saw Billy come out the pen I turned the tv off and went to bed :mjlol:

Billy Wagner: .184
Nolan Ryan: .200

That one vote is why I laugh at baseball and those racist purist. F them. And their fantasy fairy tail of a hall. Congrats to all those inductees. We know Ichiro doesn't care, but it keeps adding to my ambivalence towards any baseball fan that lives under the sand.
