He is being shortsighted with his take on this. You are correct, we want our people in there if something pops off. They would not only be our early warning on what is going to happen, but also they will be able to gain access to equipment needed to defend ourselves if the Nazis decide they want to attack us.
Edit: When I state equipment, I am talking about heavy weapons. Not just the normal pistols, rifles, and shotguns you can get your hands on.
