The hospital where NFL star Jason Pierre-Paul is being treated for fireworks injuries says it's launching an "aggressive internal investigation" to find out if a staffer leaked JPP's private medical records to an ESPN reporter.

The supposed medical records were posted by ESPN's Adam Schefter on Wednesday -- showing JPP underwent a procedure to have a finger amputated.

Now, Carlos A. Migoya -- president and CEO of Jackson Health System -- says he's determined to find out if the documents were leaked by a hospital employee ... violating patient confidentiality.

"Late Wednesday, media reports surfaced purportedly showing a Jackson Memorial Hospital patient’s protected health information, suggesting it was leaked by an employee. An aggressive internal investigation looking into these allegations is underway."

Migoya adds, "If these allegations prove to be true, I know the entire Jackson family will share my anguish."

"If we confirm Jackson employees or physicians violated a patient’s legal right to privacy, they will be held accountable, up to and including possible termination. We do not tolerate violations of this kind."

For its part, ESPN issued a statement saying HIPAA (the laws that protect medical records) does not apply to news organizations.

I knew as soon as he wouldn't let the Giants medical staff look at his hand it was serious. SMH...why it gotta be my team though

Almost no doubt that he chopped it because the surgeries and rehabilitation process/attempt would take forever.

But I wonder how much damage there is to the rest of his hand. Most of your grip strength does NOT come from your index finger... could def function, but wonder if he'll be able to thrive in the next year.

I feel like, probably not.


What's funny/interesting is: The Giants have been hesitant to invest in him, because they feel like he they feel like he wasn't doing everything to maximize his talent, from working out to film to technique... they didn't feel like he's be protecting their investment... and he blew his fukking hand off. shyt is crazy.
