Nah they’ve been in talk for weeks at minimum.

Soon as old Lincoln heard about the move to the SEC he likely started weighing his options. That OU team’s ceiling in the SEC is 8 or 9 wins. Like I said in another thread they basically are what A&M is now when they come to the SEC.

Lincoln picked that Southern California living, good recruiting territory, and playing in a much easier conference were he might have to get up for Oregon or Notre Dame, but outside of that he’s going to playing cupcakes most other weeks. He probably took that OU program as far as he was going to take it and knew that in the back of his head.

Caleb William's gotta be going with Lincoln.

I still think Chip is in the driver seat right now and building something nice at UCLA. Lincoln will have his work cut out recruiting wise.
I thought UCLA sucked. Chip doing well beyond the wins and losses like that? Recruits, etc? I haven't paid attention besides seeing scores after games.

Nah, OU would still be 10 win range in the SEC. They were the Bama of the Big 12. Bama with Saban is still in the SEC so they'd be in that tier after Bama

Cop with what

I can look back at what I shared from a trusted source telling me midweek (after all the Riley smoke really started) that fans were latching onto stuff that simply wasn't matching the moves being made behind the scenes. And I now believe that even more after speaking to a source on Sunday, which is the same one that said Lincoln wasn't in the spot on Woodward's list that many were presuming. I can tell you with some confidence that early on, LSU did reach out to Riley, but I also don't believe those talks lasted very long. I now absolutely believe that to be true. You are talking about two of the most respected AD's in America in Woodward and Joe Castiglione. Those guys aren't going to sit around going through some back-and-forth for weeks at a time. It's just not how things operate. Lincoln's statement at his press conference last night was short and to the point. And you can take him at his word on it. I don't believe this to be a situation where a coach says one thing at the podium only to turn and leave. I do not expect Riley to be the next head coach. And I don't believe there was any expectation of that from Woodward's end. This was one of those situations where the fanbase took some internet reports and ran with them as fact. I will continue to caution anyone on taking that approach in this search...

I think we’re about to see a case where only an undefeated pac 12 champion will have shot at the playoffs and 2 loss sec teams are in after OU and Texas come over

people have a right to be mad but this ESPN/SEC expansion won’t be fair
The other conferences will not allow ESPN and the SEC to completely Deebo FBS.

Texas already trash and OU coming in being trash is not gonna be good

OU has to nail this coaching hire

Not saying he's wrong (he's probably right) but man, say something beforehand. Otherwise, people are just going to assume you're doing a clean-up job for the AD.

If it's a 12 team playoff, which is the most common rumor so far, it's a moot point. Pac 12 champ will get in alongside 2, possibly 3 SEC teams. But on the other hand, a 12 team playoff with Oklahoma in the SEC almost certainly guarantees they miss the playoffs more often than no. So it's a good move to me. Maybe things would be different if Texas and Oklahoma did the smart thing and joined the Big Ten.

In an ideal world where the expansion is 6 instead of 12, it's gonna often boil down to

SEC champ
Big Ten champ
Pac 12 champ
ACC champ
SEC runner up
Big 12 champ
(with Notre Dame's coward ass sneaking in every now than then, a team like Cincy getting in sometimes, etc)

To me that makes college football better by spreading out 5 star recruits and also making conference championships matter more. Seems like Oklahoma and Texas willingly through themselves into the bushes for no reason.
We’re not getting a scenario with automatic qualifiers when the SEC becomes a super conference. The big 12 won’t even be on tv in the new world. The Pac12 already isn’t on TV

it’s a reason the ACC, Big10 and Big12 announced the alliance and said TBD

Texas brand and OU brand won’t waver no matter what

the other conference would need a tv power that’s bigger than ESPN.

Disney bleeding money right now so anything is possible.

Brands that suck don't matter. Most figured OU would still be a solid team coming to the SEC even with Texas being ass but now that is up in the air

Nah, Power 5 conference champs have to get auto bids in a twelve team playoff. It's the at large that will be interesting.
