Problem that Netflix has is that anything that they can offer, Amazon can match and then some. Even Apple might throw their hat in the ring to obtain his services.

Netflix has been good to him, yes but that doesn't mean that he doesn't want to get paid his worth either. If Netflix values the relationship, then they'll pay the market price when it comes time to re-up. They obvious value the relationship, which is why I said in my original comment that they are going to bat for their investment and maintaining the business relationship that they have with him.
