Honestly, the only reason he’s not a pg is cause Houston hasn’t let him grown in that role and he’s so good he was able to thrive in other roles. But his natural passing talent and his insane rim pressure would translate at point. He’s a walking paint touch. He played point his whole career before entering the league. Give him the reps and he’ll thrive. Even with a streaky jumper.

This is one of the games he played point last year when FVV was down. They need to just let him take the reins

I 100 percent agree he is a very good passer and knows how to find the open man, but when it comes to running the show that’s just not the kind of player he is. I also think his talent is maximized running the wing, cutting, working mid post and being able to crash the offensive glass

Having him dominate the ball to drive and create isn’t going to be an ideal system for Houston. FVV worked because he didn’t need to dribble the air out the ball to run plays or keep the offense moving.

Like I said before, it’s similar to LeBron. He’s playmaker but he’s not a point guard, and playing point guard takes away from what other guys can do because he has to dominate the basketball

Sga is not a point guard. He is a lead combo guard. Which is all you need.
He is a point guard and he’s always played point guard. He was coached as a kid to be a point guard even though he was tall

He runs offense, knows when to get guys in their spots, when to push it himself and generally lead a team

He just so happens to score the hell out of the ball at the same time :yeshrug:

He does not get guys to their spots or any of that more than any other guard who has the ball all the time. He is not Hali or Trae young. He’s what a “point guard” is now. Which is just a nikka who always has the ball. Amen will likely be a lot better without some midget always holding the ball.

I disagree fam. I think he can run the show. Just needs meaningful reps to develop. Amen played point guard his whole career until getting to the league. FVV dribbled the shyt outta the ball too. Bron won a bubble ring playing PG.

they’ll miss his shot creation. All that other stuff is kinda irrelevant in today’s game from a midget who really prefers to chuck shots. Pure pg position is dead.

The pure point guard position morphed into the shoot first point guard but the Rockets don't have one of those lol

This is KD's chance to get his buddy Mike James back in the league. James and Van Vleet could pass for brothaz:ehh:

There's no way Mike James leaves his 3 year, 9 million dollar deal with AS Monaco to play for the NBA minimum.

Making the NBA is a dream for guys but once you've done that and you're not the guy or getting big checks, you're better off playing in Europe where you can get a competitive salary and be the guy on your team and actually play. Evan Fournier looks much happier playing major minutes for Olympiacos than he ever did with the Knicks and outside of the salary, guys don't want to ride the bench.

This is...a good and informative post :ld:.

I should consider that and see if any of these players are actually more happy or better paid over there. Now, that isn't the only factor...but once you have a life of that established, it's a factor for sure.
