L&S have everything in life, except life. They both have been more focused on this for awhile ever since Sergey knew Parkinson's ran in his genetics and Larry had that throat issue.

The only dwindling asset they have is time on this earth.

Their whole lives have been built around amassing assets in other areas (knowledge, tech, money, etc.) and this is their last, biggest, and seemingly impossible challenge.

Isn't the Fiber thing a political infrastructure thing? Cities/States just aren't giving Google the go ahead to plant their Fiber cables into the ground

i figured they were training Sundar Pichai to takeover as google's CEO but didn't think they would reshape the company like this

No need to have the company's moonshot projects in the Google reporting structure

I was about to say this. They're compartmentalizing. Some much needed efficiency.
Far as I know, nothing customer related is gonna change, really. We still gonna search, hit up Youtube, etc

I'd be appalled (if this works out) to not see "Alphabet" try to take a strong shot at buying the flailing Samsung

Samsung themselves AT THE MOMENT possess a huge umbrella of separate electronics. "Alphabet" would have land in everything imaginable. (Except games, but Alphabet could then absorb the gaming division of Sony, who's maybe the only extremely profitable part of Sony)

I was just telling my boy the other days its truly amazing how much money is in the world.. and this story fall in line with the example I used with him:

EVERYBODY knows Google.. and here this company is that NOBODY has heard of comes along and scoops them up...

How could a company we never heard of be bigger then and buy Google
