Countless millionaires who are paid billionaires (and higher) who do not want black people to have their own. I wouldnt call that an excuse :sas1:

Cacs arent going to watch their employees empower the so called "black" community. Because that hurts their bottom line. Even after 400 years, you brehs still dont get that :snoop:
MLK was smashing white women in his spare time...would he also not have gotten your support? :jbhmm:

No he wouldnt have gotten my support but not for that reason.

ESPN got their employees so shook even Bomani Jones switched his whole style up on this kind of stuff. Jalen Rose even got a catch phrase about obeying his master "Don't get fired"
Jemele probably just don't give a fukk. Kudos to her for having that level of bravery

That stems back to nba coverage. Bill Simmons and Jalen Rose on nba countdown used to allude to it.

Actually, I think the running joke from Grantland to ESPN was "don't get fired, Bill"

But what can they do to keep us from creating our own TV network tho? :why: we got money to create it...we got content...we got 40 million pairs of eyeballs...why a young comedian like my nikka DC young fly on MTV and not a black network? :leostare: this can't be the white man's fault...nikkas are either scared to create their own or just love having a seat at the white table...and if you don't support MLK, you're looking real funny in the light :wtb:

She's interfering with money of her employer...that is a line cross to a business owner. They ride with her...ESPN as a collective could get the axe by way of money.

Hell, ESPN probably agrees with her...but a business still needs to make money by any means legal as that is right by and, Disney, steak holders, and anyone that owns Disney stock. If ESPN is cool with her...pull her aside during this time off to explain the business rationale.

People many a jobs can get sent home if attire does not adhere to dress code unless it's a medical issue. Comments that hurt/conflict business can get you in trouble unless the business mission includes such verbiage of going against advertisers you do business with.
I think it’s pretty much how you explained. ESPN can’t afford no boycotts at this stage in its lifetime, Disney barely wants to keep them as is. Jemele knows this and should accordingly transition to somewhere she can be a bit looser like FS1. I don’t see why all and any talent that feels compromised by the restriction of ESPN would choose to stay, there’s plenty of other viable options.

the ether
She suggested fans should boycott the Cowboys sponsors.

Not smart... on your 2nd strike ?

she is more useful and visible at ESPN than being fired

Nah, that shyt is TOTAL bullshyt. People who want to be corporate slaves been saying that for decades..."we'll create change from the inside"...the second you stop conforming to their norms then you're disappeared, because they want profit, not free thinkers. The only way she stays "useful and visible" on ESPN is if she is useful and visible to their profits, which means toeing the party line.

George Monbiot said it best:

"What the corporate or institutional world wants you to do is the opposite of what you want to do. It wants a reliable tool, someone who can think, but not for herself: who can think instead for the institution. You can do what you believe only if that belief happens to coincide with the aims of the corporation, not just once, but consistently, across the years (it is a source of wonder to me how many people’s beliefs just happen to match the demands of institutional power, however those demands may twist and turn, after they’ve been in the company for a year or two).

Even intelligent, purposeful people almost immediately lose their way in such worlds. They become so busy meeting the needs of their employers and surviving in the hostile world into which they have been thrust that they have no time or energy left to develop the career path they really wanted to follow. And you have to develop it: it will not happen by itself. The idea, so often voiced by new recruits who are uncomfortable with the choice they have made, that they can reform the institution they join from within, so that it reflects their own beliefs and moral codes, is simply laughable. For all the recent guff about corporate social responsibility, corporations respond to the market and to the demands of their shareholders, not to the consciences of their employees. Even the chief executive can make a difference only at the margins: the moment her conscience interferes with the non-negotiable purpose of her company – turning a profit and boosting the value of its shares – she’s out.

The number 1 employer of black people is the government! Hence, us getting paid by legally required tax dollars.

We forgetting these businesses have to sell products or push ads and are at the whim of the market to keep the doors open. Companies stay neutral on many issues...and the "black issues" beyond verbal racism upsets the rest of USA. As long as Niccka isn't being used against you the average white person not going to accept your outspokenness on the institutional racism.

To put a "channel"on the TV that is aimed to millions in the US, you have to go to cacs. Its not as simple as building something of your own and going to them to be on their airwaves and still getting to say/do what you want. What you're saying doesnt make any sense and besides all that, thats what youtube is doing.

But I agree, brehs are scared to create their own which is why they champion Kapernick kneeling for the police to treat them better instead of coming together to form their own police forces. And the Jewish in NY I hear have their own police force so its not something they really have to go to cacs to set up.

:yeshrug: any one who can shyt on a corporation like the NFL while workin for a Nazi company in Disney while bein a Afrikan woman gets my respect. Money doesn't define you if you have dignity & pride. Her goofy tweets aside thats real black enlightment that Malcolm spoke about.

Now if more of us can reach that level mentally & financially.
