Great move on the Knicks part. Certain coaches aren't built to take you over the top. Thibs is not the coach to push young players to the next level, sort of like Kenny Atkinson with the Nets and now the Cavs.

My guess is that the ECF Game 1 loss set the Knicks back tremendously and when they couldn’t overcome it to win the series, that became the reason they needed to let Thibs go.

I suppose you could point to a number of reasons to fire anyone. But I think that loss was a catalyst.
