doesn't sound like a dropping...but more of like a rejection of a deal or joint venture proposal
nowadays alot of management of artists as well as production middle "men" like QC (quality control) will try to negotiate a deal propasal in which they request a significant budget as well as advance if possible for the exchange of offering not only content , but intellectual properties and licenscing for a certain time period that both parties can agree with...
or in the case of one artist whom i won't name who was a CTE affiliate seeking a solo deal with RCA records ...he put up a "number" {money proposed to invest) and RCA put up a "number" in which they both could meet halfway in regards to how the budget would manifest as far as promoting and marketing the best intrests of the artist and the label.
alot of majors are moving this way...or unless Reid is just simply debunkin rumors of a signing of an artist to his label that he denies is true..
