This is smart on both sides.
LiAngelo isn't a high D1 talent. He is more a mid-major player. Ain't nothing wrong w/ that. Could still make the league after 3 or 4 good years.

Hell, the only reason he got a scholarship is because UCLA had to give him and LaMelo one to get Lonzo there.

So he brings nothing to the court. Now he's already brought international scrutiny and you know UCLA alumni and donors aint want him there anymore. I'm pretty sure this was a "forced resignation"-type deal

I would expect LaMelo's scholarship to get revoked too

Lamelo is an actual top tier talent tho for his class

Shoulda let that boy stay and get that degree. He already said that he was never gonna make the league so why not let him enjoy his college life. Unless lil angelo honestly wasn't feeling UCLA and he wanted to leave or if pops felt he was around the wrong type of cats I don't see the point of pulling him out.
UCLA a good ass school can learn a lot and make some great connections. Hope the kid had a say in this that's the main thing

Damn, he should’ve at least kept him at UCLA for the college degree. UCLA is on every list of good school rankings ( Us news Tier one status, Princeton review top 5 percent of universities, Forbes top 650/10 percent), while having a shyt ton of C- level executives for alumni that bleed UCLA.


Not a lot of us brothers get these type of shots.

But seriously, why not let the kid sit, and after a while play, we know he’s not a one and done type of talent, so 2-3 Years he would be good

Probably a combination of a lot of things. Not knowing if/when he will ever be on the team again and I'm guessing being stuck in China for all that time didn't help him academically. Teachers bend the rules for athletes but he may not have had any sympathy coming his way.

Its a lot better to just withdraw at that point and make it look like it was your choice.
