False equivalence. A spike is not even remotely the same thing.

I'm speechless that everyone constantly complains about how players aren't competitive like they used to be, choosing to protect their numbers, and yet this rule change is designed to combat some of that and yet y'all think it's a bad thing.

Make it make sense.

This is not only going to improve the entertainment element of the game, but it'll hopefully lead to players abandoning the mentality of playing in a conservative manner due to the perception of how their numbers are judged. Not that it'll likely happen in our lifetime, but this is a closer move to throwing out all these archaic box score measurements of player impact/performance.
