I'm not sure how you gathered that from what I wrote that I believe blacks are only one way....but I'll entertain you. Thomas has mad many statements on blacks and their group allegiances to reliance on gov, consistent votes for the left. etc...If anything HE thinks all black ppl are one way... and HE is trying to distinguish himself from that group. That was what I was trying to say maybe I did so inarticulately

He thinks his opinions will make him less black

I guess if that's the way you wish to clarify your statement (by blaming it on him), you're free to do so. However, it reeks of the idea that him voting one way or another on an issues, should be based on the color of his skin. It's the same statement as, "they voted for Obama because he's black." No matter how he votes, it will be blamed on skin color. Either he's attempting to appease black folks or actively avoiding being aligned with them.

How can a person ever win that battle? It's as if black folks feel that Clarence owes them a vote.

Maybe, just maybe, the person who decides to actively refuse that game, is one of the wisest dudes out there.

Ralph Ellison, Stanley Crouch, Obama himself.

Crabs in a barrel.

He's is Black. Vote to protect Black people. He does owe us as people had to die just to defeat the institutionalized racism that he seems hell bent on letting back out of the box.

This is not an argument, it's a rant. Who the hell are "us as people."

Huh? The problem here is ur conflation with race and morality has you curiously siding with the immoral, and showing antagonism to basic moral reasoning. The voting rights act is moral. The activities that have been used to suppress american civil rights for blacks have been immoral, and violently counter what this country is SUPPOSED to stand for. These arent ambiguous concepts --- its right vs. wrong. Clarence thomas has consistently sided with the immoral throughout his judical career --- made more heartbreaking given that the racial group being injured, is the racial category of which he belongs. Thomas is not being called a tom because he doesnt like rap music, or because he doesnt talk in slang, which are reasonable personal choices. Thomas supports the cruelest concept invented in our american social and legislative body --- racism
