Get ready for td;lr
My Brother’s Keeper is probably the best way to help black people because the best way to help black children at risk is through mentoring and resources to reduce crime, to get them off the streets and through school and college, then they mentor the next people coming up after them. In theory if this process was a success nationwide, not only would crime be reduced, but home values would have potential to increase and it can set the wheels in motion for economic growth in black communities. Apparently that’s not good enough for the autistic members on here since latinos and other brown people at risk can also benefit (even though blacks are the biggest benefited of all the ‘colored’ people and black celebrity involvement is the highlight focus) so let’s discuss other stuff.
-Fair Sentencing Act: Basically Reversing what Ronald Reagan did when he did this 100:1 thing. This lowered the sentencing ratio of crack to cocaine from 100:1 to 18:1. Obama wanted it to be 1:1, but Congress compromised it to 18:1. It was either Obama passes it at 18:1, or it doesn’t get passed at all and it stays at 100:1. There is legislation in congress to get it down to 1:1, but Congress is not going to pass it. Speaking of Congress, they blocked a lot of stuff he tried to get done over the years. They did everything they could to sabotage his Presidency. Then they got mad when Obama decided to use executive power in certain situations to side step them. (That’s why Paul Ryan recently said he wants Congress to have more control recently in an interview because he felt like the separation of powers wasn’t being truly implemented. Basically, mad that Obama wouldn’t roll over like a puppy every single time.)
The Fair sentencing act abolishes a five-year mandatory minimum sentence for possession of crack. This also lead to the resentencing and sentence reduction of thousands of inmates. Most of whom are black. And people who are sentenced today get shorter and fair sentencing compared to those who were sentenced before 2010 when this bill was passed.

-This ties in to Obama’s Criminal Justice Reform. Most may not view this as a black issue, but it is. Not only because blacks make up majority, but because President Clinton’s crime bill created mass incarceration that harmed black communities more than anyone even though the prison population was increasing before President Clinton took office. It doesn’t matter if black people weren’t the only ones effected. People stayed in prison too long, the notorious 3 strike rule (3rd strike is a life sentence) did a lot of damage, and more crime categories were eligible for the death penalty. Black people were effected the most. Also, educational programs in prison were taken away by Clinton so the transition from prison to regular society becomes harder. While All American benefit from Obama's Criminal Justice Reform, blacks benefit the most.
Obama’s Criminal Justice Reform attempts to reverse damage done by his predecessors by
-Asking prosecutors to be lenient on sentencing and give the appropriate sentence instead of giving the maximum sentence like they were instructed to do before Obama.
-Giving clemency to some, 20% drop in people being charged under mandatory minimum sentences.
-Alternatives to prison in order to keep them out of prison, creating educational programs for prisoners, finding resources and job training to make it easier to transition from prison to regular society, banning the box on job applications which helps felons get jobs.
-Banning solitary confinement for juveniles.
-His administration also investigated more police departments for violation of black civil rights than the past two administrations combined which led to 3rd party monitoring, supervision and policy change on policing and management. He didn’t have to investigate shyt. Of course, with Trump coming in, the DOJ reports on these police departments will be thrown out the window and police will be given more freedom to harass black people without DOJ interference. Obama's DOJ investigations has been seen as "very aggressive" since politicians are not use to DOJ regularly interfering in local police departments.
Once again, this is an American issue, but this is also proportionally a black issue and Obama knows this.
Obama had to use his own authority for this because Congress would have blocked any legislation for reform. The downside of this is that Trump and Sessions can easily reverse it since this isn’t a Congress thing. If Obama had Congress’s backing, he could of did a lot more from a permanent legal perspective. That’s what happens when you have a Republican Majority in Congress. They purposely tried to sabotage his Presidency.
The good news is that stats show that Obama will be the first President in 50 years to leave office with a lower prison population compared to when he first became President. Obama cannot take 100% credit for this, but his policies have helped contribute to the drop-in prison population. No secret since 1 in 5 are in a non violent drug offense and those were the people he targeted for release or re sentencing.
FACT SHEET: Enhancing the Fairness and Effectiveness of the Criminal Justice System
Obama made progress on criminal justice reform. Will it survive the next president?
-Regardless of what black executives in HBCU says, Obama and his team invested over 4 billion dollars into HBCU colleges and the federal funding for HBCU’s has grown each year since 2009. Pell Grant funding also increased 300 million under his watch to HBCU’s. Obama’s FY 2017 budget for HBCU’s is a 5 million dollar increase from his FY 2016 HBCU budget. All these executives and professors complaining about the issues with funding better get ready when Trump, Paul Ryan and Congress cut federal funding for these black colleges. Obviously, Obama isn’t the sole reason for this, but you can easily suggest he had influence even if it’s minor. Some may have taken advantage of money provided, or they seen Obama as influential to achieve things in their own lives.
FACT SHEET: Obama Administration Investments in Historically Black Colleges and Universities | U.S. Department of Education
-The previous note about HBCU funding is also related to this executive order in 2010 titled “Executive Order 13532-- Historically Black Colleges and Universities “
Executive Order 13532-- Historically Black Colleges and Universities
-There is another executive order related to that in 2012 titled “Executive Order -- White House Initiative on Educational Excellence for African Americans”
Executive Order -- White House Initiative on Educational Excellence for African Americans
-Since nikkas love Africa and think Obama refuses to do anything for Africa.
S.2152 - 114th Congress (2015-2016): Electrify Africa Act of 2015:
-Executive Order in 2014 designed to increase trade and investment between the US and Africa, which would create jobs in both Africa and the US.
Executive Order --Establishing the President's Advisory Council on Doing Business in Africa
-Since nikkas here always whine about putting other black people on once you get on, Obama has appointed more black judges than anyone in history and his staff is blacker than anyone in history. This is after critics got mad at Obama for not having enough black people on staff during his first couple years.
Black People Appointed To Top Positions By President Obama
-------------------------
In closing, saying Obama did
nothing for black people is the most empty, ignorant, and naïve statement imaginable. Could you say he could have done more? Debatable, but the argument is there. Anyone could always do more. The economic disparity gap between black people and white people have nothing to do with Obama and everything to do with education, whites being more likely to invest in the stock market than blacks, home value differences, white people practicing discrimination in hiring practices and other variables. He got black unemployment rate down to 8.1%, which is the lowest since September 2007 right before the recession. When he took office, it was 12.7% and continued to rise for years peaking at 16.5%.
My criticism of Obama is that he tries to make everyone happy too much. We should have seen this coming from his election speech in 2008 when he preached unity and about Americas come together during times of despair.
Obama is probably the most genuine President of all time. An intelligent, charismatic, very likeable person of very strong moral values, legitimacy, and moral conduct and there’s nothing fake about him. In his heart wants to be the ultimate peace maker by understanding both sides and presenting a fair argument that appeases both sides, but in times of racial conflict, all he does is piss off both sides when he does that. He pisses off black people with criticism or when he praises the other side, and he pisses off white people when he stands up for black lives matter, Treyvon Martin, etc or make ‘negative comments’ about the police. This also goes back to him believing in bipartisan corporate efforts to come together for the good of everyone, when politics for the most part is fighting and side choosing so that leads to more hate for him.
It doesn’t make Obama a c00n. Especially because anyone that has seen videos of Obama before he ran for President knows his thoughts on race and has seen actions he has taken in the past. If people haven’t watched anything (not just his videos before his Presidency, but regular town hall meetings and other events he’s done during his time in office) to gain understanding and knowledge, then people won’t know anything and they’ll continue to make empty, ill-informed statements that hold zero weight or merit.
LOL at you. It was a metaphor that you and the autistic nikkas here took too literally.
