They still have the British lineage, a couple of them married royalty from Germany.
If we want to be really accurate there never was a British King of England.
We do have English Kings of the United Kingdom, but there's nothing natively British about being English.
England as a concept was invented by Angles and Saxons (Germans). Before they arrived Britain was several kingdoms ruled by a few different tribes and nobody had even thought about uniting them into a single nation. Even the Saxons didn't think about it until they had a Viking invasion to deal with.
The first Kings of England were Saxon (German). Eventually they got pushed out by Normans (Vikings who'd been in France for a few generations).
The Normans renamed themselves Plantagenet and we all eventually agreed to forget they were French.
From the Plantagenets to the Stuarts they hammered and harried the remaining British tribes in Wales and Scotland into submission and assimilation... nobody "British" has had a sniff of power anywhere since.
Then when that line got too difficult we brought some more professional German royals in.
The only place you can find actual British people in England these days is in Cornwall and we
still make the Heir to the Throne the Duke of Cornwall (and the Prince of Wales who also never assimilated) - it's a direct act of subjugation to the British tribes that never assimilated.
Which all makes it even more ironic when English racists rant about protecting native Anglo-Saxon culture as if that's a sentence that makes sense - Anglo-Saxons were literally the original hostile immigrants and they brought their middle-eastern religion and all its laws with them too.
