 "Kicked off" is what I said and I said it on purpose

The Rocko track had been getting comments on here and twitter for weeks, but this is when it went public.

People can argue all day about the double standard or why Reebok ignored his other lyrics.

but the fact is, Ross had the chance to either

A) give an actual apology

B) give a good explanation for "what he really meant"

instead he just talked in circles. a clear case of a rapper being "too cool" for his own good. notice how Reebok said they didn't believe Ross actually condoned date rape, just that they didn't think he had a clear understanding of it. based on the "explanation" Ross gave, I don't blame them for thinking that

I don't understand why that's even being brought up, this wasn't a moral dilemma with reebok. They don't give a fukk what ross was rapping about. They just don't want the backlash from his actions, the feminists leaned on them and ross wasn't worth the trouble.

:yeshrug:

The people who should be in an outrage and be protesting all that other shyt don't really care, can't be mad at feminists for actually making a move.

Why ain't "his own" got anything to say about it? you starting a rally nikka?
I'm not talking about reebok nikka. Of course they did what they have to I would have done the same shyt I'm talking about the faux outrage/hypocrite brigade.

Lol at people saying he cashed out. At the most he got some upfront money but the nikka had a contract. He missing out on majority of that money due to that stupid line.

Yep.

Ross kept it too real. I don't know why y'all nikkas is acting surprised like nikkas don't do shyt like that. Rich, poor, blacjk, white whatever. I don't endorse or indulge in the behavior, just not gonna act blind to it.

Exactly. It's nikkas out here that do that shyt like they don't understand that it's dead wrong.

I'm saying though, the only "outrage" that mattered was from the feminist movement...you think their outrage was faux? especially after how that case was handled?

If we're talking about nikkas on here then :aicmon:

ATL…overly
:childplease:

You think liberal cacs care about a n1gga apologizing?

Imus apologized profusely and went on air with Jessie Jackson and they still bodied him...

Juan Williams still got fired from NPR after explaining and apologizing his statements on Muslims on airplanes..

Mike Vick has been on a non stop apology tour for 5 years and still has to cancel his book tour for death threats in 2013..

They don't want apologies.. They want to make examples out of people....

Gator, you the homie & I respect your POV, but I gotta disagree. Look at the WHOLE statement Reebok released:
Reebok holds our partners to a high standard and we expect them to live up to the values of our brand. Unfortunately, Rick Ross has failed to do so

We are very disappointed that Rick Ross has yet to display an understanding of the seriousness of this issue.

The last statement should tell you everything you need to know. Ross treated this like he did when the CO shyt happened ie. "refuse to acknowledge reality until he absolutely has to." Reebok was waiting on Ross to give the contrived bullshyt he released today at the beginning of this controversy. Instead he thought he wasn't gonna have to break character & could "Ross" his way through this & he was wrong.

It took something happening to his money before he was truly "apologetic" & even that "apology" is too little too late.

RR issued a fuller, more substantive apology after Reebok's PR mentioned that his initial "sorry if you misunderstood my lyrics" was not sufficiently apologetic.

Rhymes with Snitch | Entertainment News | Celebrity Gossip: Rick Ross Offers Formal Apology

“Before I am an artist, I am a father, a son, and a brother to some of the most cherished women in the world. So for me to suggest in any way that harm and violation be brought to a woman is one of my biggest mistakes and regrets. As an artist, one of the most liberating things is being able to paint pictures with my words. But with that comes a great responsibility. And most recently, my choice of words was not only offensive, it does not reflect my true heart. And for this, I apologize. To every woman that has felt the sting of abuse, I apologize. I recognize that as an artist I have a voice and with that, the power of influence. To the young men who listen to my music, please know that using a substance to rob a woman of her right to make a choice is not only a crime, it’s wrong and I do not encourage it. To my fans, I also apologize if I have disappointed you. I can only hope that this sparks a healthy dialogue and that I can contribute to it.”

businesses are concerned with making a profit, not providing a consistent moral compass
