Book banning never target the books you think they will

There will still be books on white historical figures in Florida, regardless of their sexuality, for years to come. But as far as black history the only thing your kid will be allowed to read in school is the Ron DeSantis cac-approved revised history of Martin Luther King Jr. The one where a great man once said "I have a dream" then white people realized the error of their ways and as long as you "work hard" everything been swell since.

Trying to reframe oppression of minorities as just a "symptom", and fighting against oppression as "the cause", is a wild fukking take.

Everything that DeSantis has done, especially lately has been his way of running for President. He feels like he needs to clip off some of the MAGA base by running further to the right, aka being more racist, homophobic, etc than everyone in the Republican primary in order to win the nomination. He'll be able to point to the legislation he signed, or the Executive Orders that he issued to show his credientals to the bigots in the Republican party.
