Fair enough. Then again during the 2000s, music was crazy regional versus how it is nowadays. Folks from Philly including this marsupial, was bumping Jill and etc along with Beans and em.

Hell, I remember hearing Jill for the first time during this Neo Soul segment on Power 99 called "Innercity". Breh....:wow:.

Back when 10pm hits, the sheets come out:banderas:

Y’all had a Neo Soul segment? :gladbron:

Yep :wow:. It was during the beginning of the Neo Soul movement. It didn't last long:francis:, but during the time they would have poetry sessions, underground artists performing, and they even introduced Musiq Soulchiild who actually debuted "Love" before the actual album came out.

:wow:You had to be there breh.

Breh. I remember when artists of that time HATED being in that bracket. Jill being one of them, but as time progress and cacs jacking that style (Moonchild), that movement was all we had and sadly we let the shyt go because "I AM A ARTIST":ohlawd:

I would gladly listen to some Glenn Lewis rambling over some rhodes keys, versus some hypersexual ass singer sounding like they are from the islands:shaq2:

I was only a lil kid when the movement was in full effect but Neo Soul was what made me truly fall in love with R&B. It’s the real reason why I’m an R&B nikka at heart :wow:

A lot of us in the DMV loved that whole Neo Soul vibe and Jill practically become an honorary DC resident thanks to “It’s Love” :obama:

But I really wish we could’ve churned out some Neo Soul artists out here because the R&B culture and history here is quite rich and DC and PG County can definitely give off some Neo Soul vibes during a chill summer day or a mild fall twilight while zoning out :wow:

I think the only Neo Soul singers we got are Ari Lennox, Raheem DeVaughn, and Reesa Renee. The two girls from OSHUN are from here too despite their music career starting out up in NYC. Their style of music isn’t necessarily strictly Neo Soul but there are definitely elements within it.
