In the past week, I know two folks who've lost their dad, last one on Monday whose dad was a Vietnam vet and an Ali afficianado. I said it comes in threes.

I've long prepared myself for this time. As a 70s baby, Ali was the closest thing to God in every black and African household I knew. The Haitian barber who used to cut my hair up the street from me used to have his pic, Ali holding on to the corner ropes, red everlast gloves, looking off somewhere, framed in the corner of the shop. He was black God.

There were three pillars of black manhood coming up....James Brown, Jim Brown and Muhammed Ali.

Breh....I have an autographed Ali pic that my ex wife bought me. I'm not ready for this....I'm not....
