Trump is a symptom, not the disease. He’s the grotesque reflection in the funhouse mirror of American decline: loud, brash, gaudy, and hollow. But the architecture that allowed him to rise was laid brick by brick through deregulation, militarism, and financialization.
Bush 2 gave us the Patriot Act and endless war, Obama papered over rot with hope and QE, and Clinton fused Wall Street with Pennsylvania Avenue. Trump just ripped the mask off.
Since Bretton Woods collapsed in ’71, the dollar has been untethered from reality, fiat fueled by faith and firepower. Empire by debt. Consumption without production. Influence without discipline. That bill is coming due...economically, politically, spiritually.
Trump isn’t the worst-case scenario. He’s the warm-up act. The real threat comes when a smarter, more disciplined demagogue steps onto the stage, cloaked in competence and still hungry for power.
