I'll go even further I disliked the direction of my country and also the fact that I made more than double what I looked forward to making when I started working over 20 years before and because of inflation it wasn't enough.

This country is built on the backs of single Men making between 50K and 100k in salary they are the highest taxed and get almost no return on those taxes, It's not enough for a house in a decent area of a major american city where the middle class jobs are, You suffer any bouts of unemployment and you cut down on your savings.

After all of that you still probably didn't save enough to retire in comfort and that's where the return of taxes kicks in when you have to live in that section 8 apartment in the hood (if you can get it)

I have an aunt who's 72 and wants to stop working and she has zero savings. If I don't help her she's gonna be homeless.

I didn't want that to be my future. Cut the cost of living and you're gucci. Inflation is the problem.

I do nothing. I get two retirement checks (hopefully in the era of the shutdown) which is way more than enough to use the rule of 72 and the 4% rule to live comfortably.

To keep it a stack the FIRE method coupled with the rule of 72 works even if you're working at Wackarnold's if you can manage to save enough to invest while sleeping in your momma's basement.

If there were a concerted effort at the state and federal level we could be like china building massive, MASSIVE solar panel farms but instead
we're just dealing with huge spikes in our electricity use as we literally pay for Data Centers.

Being an American is really dope for real.

It's completely free to fish on PRIVATE property.

But where you wanna fish has to be maintained, regulated (so fools don't take all the fish), and policed (to arrest fools who would take all the fish)

And all that costs MONEY. We keep using the word FREE. God gave us... Well, America owns the shyt god gave us, like land and lakes and streams... So now you gotta pay the owner to fish and hunt on his land.

Don't like it? Buy your own land and hunt and fish on it. It'll be free.... until you have to bait the animals to come on your land. Or keep them off it. Until they overpopulate, or you kill off all the fish in your pond. Until a disease kills your pond and you have to restock it. etc etc etc
